What to expect

Text, images and page layout are converted together. Fonts and complex formatting may differ from your Office editor; check your PDF before sharing.

Macros in Office 97–2003 files are not run. Embedded objects and very old files from before Office 97 may be omitted or refused.

Large documents may exceed your device’s available memory. If conversion fails, try a smaller document or another device.

The converter does not start

Check your connection while the converter prepares itself, then retry. This converter needs a modern browser and sufficient memory.

My document could not be converted

Open the document in your editor and save a new DOC copy. Password-protected, damaged or unsupported files may fail. The input limit is 10 MiB and the PDF output limit is 20 MiB.

Processing takes too long

Preparing the converter stops after two minutes; conversion stops after one minute. You can cancel during processing and restart with a smaller document.

A practical guide

Convert DOC to PDF for old household documents

  1. Choose the DOC file saved by an older version of Word.
  2. Convert it to PDF on your device; macros inside are not run.
  3. Open the PDF and check that pages, tables and accents look right.

Try this example

Convert a two-page DOC rental agreement from 2006; the PDF should keep both pages, the signature lines and the rent amount in the same places.

Before you start: Very old files from before Word 97 are not supported, and fonts missing from your device can be replaced, shifting line breaks slightly.
